The St. Lawrence Shark Observatory (ORS | GEERG) is an all-volunteer not-for-profit registered Canadian charity that requires financial assistance from corporations and private citizens to conduct field operations. All donations are tax deductible in Canada (Canada Revenue Agency Registration Number: 834462913RR0001).

ORS | GEERG projects have no commercial applications and are thus not eligible for most types of official funding. We only conduct research projects that focus on science, discovery, education and conservation. The results of all of our work are shared freely with the science community and the public at large.

Over the next five years, ORS | GEERG researchers will conduct the most extensive shark distribution project ever undertaken in the St. Lawrence. In order to accomplish this task over such a large area, we must secure funding to cover costs associated with the operation of our research vessel. No salaries are ever paid. All work conducted by ORS | GEERG scientists and assistants is done on a volunteer basis.

Several corporations, institutions and people have become ORS | GEERG partners and friends over the years. Their support and generous contributions have enabled us to conduct ground-breaking research on the Greenland shark. However, the scope of our research projects and the immense territory we cover now require the acquisition of more expensive equipment and services, and we need your help.
