Blue Shark (Prionace glauca): Rare in the western Gulf of St. Lawrence
Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus): Common in the North Atlantic and St. Lawrence System, including the Saguenay Fjord.
Porbeagle Shark (Lamna nasus): Common in the North Atlantic and St. Lawrence System.
Spiny Dogfish (Squalus acanthias) / East Coast: Common in the North Atlantic and Gulf of St. Lawrence, including the Gaspé Peninsula.
Spiny Dogfish (Squalus acanthias) / West Coast. Also known as North Pacific Dogfish (Squalus suckleyi): Common in the Strait of Georgia, including Discovery Passage.
Spotted Ratfish (Hydrolagus colliei): Common off the coast of British Columbia.
Thorny Skate (Raja radiata): Common in the North Atlantic and St. Lawrence System, including the Saguenay Fjord.
Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus): Very rare in Canada.
White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) / East Coast: Rare in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) / West Coast: Very rare at all locations except Haida Gwaii.
